Why Bedtime Stories Matter

There’s something magical about those few quiet minutes before sleep , when the world slows down, screens are off, and a child feels completely safe beside someone they love.

Bedtime stories do far more than fill time before lights out. They help children regulate emotions, process the day, and settle their thoughts. The rhythm of your voice, the softness of the story, and the feeling of connection tell a child:

“You’re safe. You can rest now.”

In these moments, language, imagination, and emotional safety weave together — building stronger bonds, richer vocabulary, and calmer minds. When we switch off the screens, we switch on the stars.✨

When I wrote Switch Off, Stars On, it came from one of those very moments a bedtime battle between tired eyes and glowing screens.

The story gently reminds children and parents to pause, breathe, and look up at the night sky. It’s about rediscovering stillness, finding peace in the stars, and ending the day with gratitude.
